Walking in on a busy Saturday brunch crowd, the manager was engaging and found us a table quickly.
The menu is Provencal French cuisine, and being the southern-most area of France, and closes to north Africa, I expected the dish have Algerian and even Moroccan tendencies. I was not disappointed!
My biggest criticism is that the eggs were poached (perfectly!) on their own and added to the sauce on top, instead of cooked in the sauce - something that makes or breaks my definition of "shakshuka", so it doesn't qualify 100% for me.
It was delicious, don't get me wrong - there was plenty of deep, smoky spice - probably some combination of ras el hanout and others to get that flavor.
It came with a half of fluffy pita bread in quarters, semi-submerged in the sauce, which made for a very yummy experience.
